French automaker Citroen India has officially started pre-bookings for its upcoming Citroen Basalt X SUV coupe with a token amount of ₹11,000. Customers can book the car through authorized dealerships or directly via the brand’s official website. The Basalt X is expected to bring stunning design enhancements and additional features to make it a more premium version of the standard Basalt.
Design & Interior Updates on Citroen Basalt X
Citroen has released teaser images hinting at the upgrades for the Basalt X. Based on these, the SUV coupe will likely feature:
- A new dashboard pattern design with bronze accents.
- Bronze-finished AC vents for a stylish and premium touch.
- A refreshed black-and-tan interior theme with bold look.
The updates are similar to what Citroen recently introduced with the C3X X trim, which brought in new materials and upgraded comfort features.

Features & Technology Upgrades Expected
While full details are yet to be revealed, the Basalt X is expected to mirror the enhancements seen on the C3X X trim, such as:
- Keyless entry with push-button start and stop.
- An optional 360-degree camera system with multiple viewing modes to enhance security.
- Cruise control with speed limiter for better performance.
- A new Garnet Red exterior paint shade to enhance looks.
- Advanced infotainment upgrades for a connected driving experience.
These updates position the Basalt X as the new range-topping variant in Citroen’s portfolio for India.
Engine & Performance
Mechanically, the Citroen Basalt X will remain unchanged. It will continue to use the tried-and-tested 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing 110 hp power output and 190 Nm torque with 6-speed manual gearbox or 205 Nm torque with 6-speed automatic transmission.

This setup ensures a balance of performance and efficiency, which has been a strong point for Citroen’s compact SUVs in India.
Citroen 2.0 Strategy – A New Chapter
The launch of the Basalt X is part of the brand’s broader ‘Citroen 2.0 Strategy – Shift Into the New’, aimed at refreshing the model lineup with more intelligent and feature-rich vehicles for Indian customers.
Speaking about the upcoming launch, Kumar Priyesh, Business Head & Director – Automotive Brands, Stellantis India, said:
“The Basalt range represents an important milestone in our Citroen 2.0 journey. With intuitive upgrades and premium design, Basalt X is designed to deliver a more confident and comfortable driving experience.”

Citroen Basalt X Price in India (Expected)
The Basalt X price in India is expected to command a premium of ₹10,000–₹25,000 over the existing top-spec Basalt trims. Currently, the Citroen Basalt Dark Edition is priced between ₹12.80 lakh and ₹14.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Hence, buyers can expect the Basalt X to start slightly higher, targeting premium customers seeking a sportier, more feature-rich variant.
Conclusion of Citroen Basalt X
With its refined interiors, upgraded tech features, and stylish design touches, the Citroen Basalt X is positioned as a strong contender in the compact SUV coupe segment. Pre-bookings have already started, and the official launch is expected soon, making it one of the most anticipated releases in the Indian car market
